Pressed Fuel

BioBricks

BioBricks

One ton of our BioBricks ® brings as much heat into your house as one cord of wood *. That's one 4' x 4' x 3' pallet of BioBricks replacing a 4' x 4' x 8' stack of cordwood. Like Wood Pellets, BioBricks are cheaper than fuel oil, less polluting and greenhouse gas neutral, recycling the C02 that the tree absorbed in its life.

* typical cordwood moisture content of 21%

Your environmentally conscious, economical solution to winter heating

Did you know that a typical New England house burning fuel oil generates 5 tons of new green house gas per year?

BioBricks make for a cosy evening fire that can last for 6-8 hours per 38 lb pack.

Fire Start

BioBricks

Build a teepee around newspaper or fire sticks & establish a strong bed of coals. This is the first step in firing any type of wood stove or fireplace.

Burning Bio Bricks in stoves with rear combustion chamber: Push coals into mouth with of rear combustion chamber covering it as much as two-thirds (2/3rds). Build a wall of bricks in front of and over coals packing bricks as tight together and laying them as flat as possible. Stay behind fire irons with fuel. Stoke fire by leaving door cracked. Once fire is going well close damper to direct airflow through mouth of rear combustion chamber.

Building Bio Bricks in Catalytic stove or stove with combustion air tubes in firebox: Start teepee in firebox to establish strong bed of coals. Push coals to back corner of stove and build wall in front and over coal bed, laying bio bricks flat and tight together. Alternate stacking "BIO" insignia facing forward and sideways to further cut down on airflow through stack.

Always maintain some flame in the firebox. You need to burn the smoke (with flame) in order to extract heat from the wood. You should see little or no smoke in the chimney. NEVER OVERFILL!

BT Blocks

BT Blocks

BT Blocks are made from a blend of hardwood and pine. They are approximately 50% pine and 50% hardwood. The heat value is 8200 BTUs per lb. and offer low ash content.

We offer the BT Blocks in the following manner:

  • 8 packs - 72 packs per skid
  • 12 packs - 48 packs per skid

The blocks are approximately 10”x4”x4” (similar in wt & size to Envi 8)

  • Customer feedback on these blocks have been great!
They are saying the heat is wonderful and they burn very clean!

Chippy Liberty Bricks

  • Composed of compressed wood chips and sawdust
  • Provides a hotter burn for a shorter time frame
  • Allows for a more complete burn creating less ash
  • Control air flow to control burn time
  • Ideal for applications where a flame is preferred over a smolder
  • Once lit, should not be stirred with a poker

Smooth Liberty Bricks

  • Composed of compressed wood shavings, sawdust and finely ground chips
  • Greater density allows for a longer burn time
  • Very little mess or cleanup
  • Requires additional air flow to allow for a proper burn

Anthracite Coal

Quality, Convenient, Economical, Environmentally Sound

Anthracite's low sulfur and high carbon content makes it an extremely clean-burning fuel. It produces virtually no smoke or polluting emissions, and is a good alternative to wood stoves where wood burning is restricted due to air pollution problems.

Softwood: The Misunderstood Pellet

Softwood pellets have been getting a bad rap because of incorrect information given to the customers. Many people think because it is a softwood that it will burn faster. This is not true. It does burn hotter so you would need to regulate your settings then sit back and enjoy the warmth the pellets put out. Wood pellets, whether hard or soft have almost the same density therefore will have similar burn times and will produce a much lighter and fluffier ash. Softwood pellets also have the added benefit of clean burning resins that ignite for the higher BTU value.
